Nancy van den Ven concluded an eventful WMX GP in the best possible way. The Dutch athlete has indeed been able to manage a rather complicated first race, crossing the finish line 8" after Valk, winner of the heat.

In race two, the fortunes were reversed and, after chasing Papenmeier, Nancy was able to take the lead on the first lap while Valk attempted a comeback and even managed to set the fastest lap of the race.

It was Van den Ven, however, who finished first in the second and decisive round of the Mantova GP, taking her 17th career victory and the red plate, followed by Valk, in 2nd place, and Hughes, 3rd.

"I am so happy," declared the winner after the finish. "I've worked really hard over the last few years. I've unfortunately had a bit of bad luck and now finally, in 2018, I'm winning a Grand Prix. I am incredibly happy."

While the women's championship saw an athlete from the Sidi family take the top spot on the podium, the men's race was fought as always until the final lap. Jorge Prado, after winning the first heat, had to settle for a third place at the end of the Italian GP and maintains the second position in the overall standings with 82 points.

"I had a good first race," said Prado "I got the holeshot and won. The start of the second race was not perfect, I thought then I recovered, I knew I had the pace to get in front, but I was a bit under pressure. I tried to do some overtaking, but I got roosted a couple of times and couldn't see. I was still pushing until I made a mistake with three laps to go when I hit a bump and lost a couple of positions. I'm not very happy with the second race, but that's how it went, the championship is still very long."
