Cycling has crowned its 2021 World Champions, Elisa Balsamo and Filippo Baroncini, enriching Sidi's palmares with two new sparkling gold medals, respectively in the Women’s Elite and Men’s U23 categories.

It is a moment for which one prepares throughout a season while waiting to learn the outcome of the convocations. Just like the athletes, a company like Sidi experiences the tension, shares the athletes' emotions, while supporting them with all the dedication and passion possible.

'I will never stop feeling that tension and adrenaline rush that accompanies me before every World Championship,' says Rosella Signori. 'We are truly grateful to these young athletes who, with their talent and incredible determination, are pursuing a dream while building a career that will take them through some incredible and very important moments in their growth and education. What better way to grow up.'

While Filippo Baroncini redeems his European Championships Silver for a World Championship Gold on Friday 24th September in Leuven, while Elisa Balsamo pulled off the perfect job along with Italian national team the next day, reliving the emotional experience from when she won Gold in the Junior category in Doha.

'It's incredible!' said Elisa immediately after crossing the finish line. 'When I woke up I didn't think about how it would go. After a long season it was everything  I dreamed of and it happened. The team was amazing, without them I would never have made it. They put me in the perfect position at the perfect time so I could finish the job. I believed in it. After the last corner I turned my brain off and used my instincts. I just wanted to go full speed ahead and not look back, I had to start at the right point and that was it. I think it's going to take me a few days to digest and understand what that means exactly.'

A well-deserved success, the result of the incredible work of a really strong team that, with still 5 elements in the leading group a few kilometres from the finish, organized the train for Elisa so that she could play her card. And she worked her magic in the last 175 metres. It could not have gone better.

Filippo, the talented 21-year-old from Romagna, also confirmed that the only thing he could think about was giving his all and planned his attack. Everything went according to plan, apparently, and it was with 5 km to go that the finish line seemed more and more within reach.

Also on the podium in the Men's Elite category was silver medallist Dylan Van Baarle, who fought for the medals on a truly iconic day when cycling came together for a huge international celebration.

At their feet

While talent is shared by the athletes, the choice of Sidi shoes differs, with Filippo Baroncini opting for the Shot 2, Elisa Balsamo and Dylan van Baarle opting for the Wire 2.

The Wire 2’s feature refined details and cutting-edge technology, as well as being ultra-lightweight and robust. Thanks to the handmade Vent Carbon sole, stiffness is maximized while maintaining the flexibility needed to best transfer power to the pedals.

The Shot 2’s have a revolutionary lightweight design that distinguishes it from the previous version due to the integrated heel, which gives a refined line to the rear part, the new "Double Tecno3 Flex" rotor and the equally new latest generation carbon sole.

All elements that guarantee maximum comfort and high performance whilst pushing on the pedals.
